Birdy Tips

Did you know.............

Sleep
  • Birds need 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night
  • Birds should be covered at night to ensure a quiet, undisturbed sleep
Bathing
  • Birds should be lightly misted on a daily basis to keep their feathers in good health
Food
  • An all seed diet is very unhealthy for birds and can lead to a vast amount of health problems
  • Birds should eat a variety of foods including grains, fresh vegetables, meats, fruits and nuts
Lighting
  • Birds need full spectrum lighting daily. Since most companion birds are kept indoors they need access to Full Spectrum lighting (which can not be obtained by putting a bird near a window) in order to keep their feathers in good health. Full Spectrum light bulbs mimic the benefits of natural sunlight
